My Elephant @ Aman Suria

/Paggie appreciation post 2.0

So a couple of weeks ago, being the super nice person that I naturally am (alolololololololololololol) I brought Paggie to My Elephant mainly because:

  • I super love the food there and I cannot finish by myself
  • My family doesn't eat lunch and I don't like eating dinner because it makes me feel fat. wtf.
  • There's less people there during the lunch hour so I don't have to wait. hahahaahahah.
  • I am just naturally nice lah wtf.
  • Like REALLY REALLY nice.
  • Hahahaha and very thick skinned.
  • Hey, at least I admit right!!

All the basic info that you'll ever need and the pictures in this post will probably do no justice to the food because I was very excited and eager to eat my food already. HAHAHAHAAH. #failblogger #hashtagsreallyneedtoworkheresoon

TRUNK 067
what we initially ordered but we ended up adding another plate of siew kai yik.

while waiting.

and waiting.

hahahahahahahaahahahah and still waiting.

it is a / Paggie appreciation post 2.0 after all.

IMG_0725

a prettier picture so Paggie wouldn't flip out and start flipping tables at me. HAHAHAHA.

TRUNK 074

and came the first dish- this was literally like the scene that you will see after a war or something with the background music going "I SEE THE LIGHT!!"

TRUNK 077

Mama mia, here we go again. My my, how can I resist you?

TRUNK 081

I've always hated paku ever since learning about them in Kemahiran Hidup and sucking in it and always hitting my finger whenever I try to nail it in and ended up using super glue instead to stick pieces of wood together until I found out about THIS paku. This paku is literally magical. Paku the magical vegetable is what I shall be calling it from now on.

TRUNK 083

I just realized it actually looks like a bowl of dead stuff cooked in water- but whatever, don't judge a bowl of soup by it's look! Hey baby, I think I wanna marry you.

TRUNK 098

"Hey Paggie, would you check out my newest sun-kissed soft tanned skin?"

TRUNK 091

I'D WILLINGLY CHOOSE FOOD > HUMAN. I REPEAT, FOOD > HUMAN.

Oh and tip! I learnt this the hard way during my first visit to My Elephant. As you guise can see, the portions are pretty big but being indecisive and wanting to try everything, I ordered BOTH the super famous Thai mango salad and this fish, the sweet and sour one and when it came, turns out the stuff on the top of the fish is like the same Thai mango salad so yeah. I'm not sure if you get what I'm saying but what I'm trying to say is that just order the fish and leave the salad out cause you can enjoy both with the fish and you probably can't finish if you order both. HAHAHAAHAHAHAHA.

TRUNK 093

Can you see the juice oozing out?! Werk it, werk it.

OK LAH IN CONCLUSION I SUPER LOVE THIS PLACE, NOT SURE ABOUT PAGGIE BUT WHATEVER I LOVE IT OK. AND YOU GUYS SHOULD REALLY LOVE IT TOO!!!!!!

I'll rate it a 4 over 5 and my expectations are quite high (or so I think for Thai food) and I consider everything from price to food quality to environment to service to cleanliness and food variety- and trust me their service is super good, we were there for almost 3 hours and they didn't even bother us to ask us leave when they were gonna close for the afternoon break instead they didn't mind and told us it was fine. Cleanliness? Their toilets are spotlessly clean and I really really like clean toilets. Food variety- need I say anymore? Price? WE ATE EVERYTHING FOR ONLY RM140+ and that is 5 dishes with a super big fish and a bowl of soup filled with seafood, a super nicely done plater, MAGICAL paku and sun-kissed siew kai yiks with 3 cups of drinks!!! WORTH IT OR NOT?! I WOULD PAY ANYTHING FOR GOOD FOOD. (that is if it's reasonable lah. #stillcheapo) HAHAHAHAAH OK BYE I WANNA SLEEP NOW.

Oh and in case if you're wondering how much we've ate: TRUNK 088

this was before the siew kai yik came, so yeah you do the calculation. and yes, it was only the two of us eating.

Kampar, Perak

Kampar (Chinese:金宝)is a town in the state of Perak, Malaysia. Founded in 1887, the town lies within the Kinta Valley and located in the newly-created Kampar District, an area rich with tin reserves. There were many tin mines on the outskirts of Kampar during the height of the mining boom. Most of them were established in the late 19th century, flourished in the 1900s, only to stagnate and decline after World War I, with the exception of an exhilarating boom in the 1920s. Most have closed down following the collapse of the industry.

you know what? I think Wikipedia should change their description of Kampar soon to maybe something like this; Kampar (Chinese:金宝)is a town in the state of Perak, Malaysia. The town which offers too much of good food that you feel guilty for not eating but after you've ate it, your tummy will become bigger and happier and once you've ate the food that this food-filled town offers, the numbers on your scale will increase.

without further ado, let the food make you hungry.

left the hous around 7, reached around 8 something! this was a road-side store that's kind-of popular among the people here!

the store sells really really good kuih especially the yam cake and the white cake thing that's taken out from a tiny bowl!!!
the noodles were pretty good too!

I TELL YOU THE BEANCURD SKIN AND THE CURRY FISHBALL IS AMAZING. SERIOUSLY!!

Some of the kuih that they sell! The white one has coconut in it, when I ate it, it was so chewy, I almost choked. No lie!

Yam crust things with meat inside? I don't know what's it called in English lah, I just know it's called wu tau kok and it's superbly good man.
WHEN I TOOK MY FIRST BITE, I TELL YOU, THERE WAS LIKE FREAKING STEAM COMING OUT, AND LIKE THERE WERE LIKE SAUCE OOZING OUT. OMG.

The woman behind all the good food!
When I took this picture, she purposely "posed" for this and told me to write nice things about her shop.
hahahahahahahahahah so cute right!!!
told you it's quite popular! there were like super lot of people coming and going just to get food!!

the stuff that I couldn't eat while walking. I asked for extra potatoes and fishball. omg.

ordered another bowl of curry pan mee, super lot of filling and the total of everything was only RM18 FOR THREE BOWLS. THREE I TELL YOU!!!!

No Malaysian breakfast will be completed without these two.
Milo ice and coffee! RM2.60 ONLY FOR BOTH. Everything here is omg cheap.

Went to the really famous Yau Kee restaurant!
My grandfather goes there almost everyday that my grandmother and my mother secretly thinks that he had bought the shop over or something. wtf.

Duck soup! This goes with the duck noodles, forgot how much it was but it was pretty cheap. Didn't try it so I couldn't comment on it. Sorry! ): BUT IT DID SMELL REALLY GOOD.

No, my camera wasn't out of focus, it's the steam from the soup warmer thing that made this picture like this!

The wrapped up corpse-looking things are salted chicken! Didn't try this, 'cause I really hate salted chicken ._.

some of the pastries that they have!

more pastries! SO CHEAP RIGHT.

guess what this is.

curry chicken in bread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RM28 for the small ones which aren't really small at all and RM46 for the gigantic ones!

see! even the super famous food critic guy came here before!

quite a lot of people and this was already quite late, around 2 something?

sorry. hahahahahahaahhahahhahahahahhaha.

delicious.

delectable.

luscious.

flavorus.

toothsome.

palatable.

ambrosial.

scrumptious.

mouth-watering.

I know you're doing it, it's okay.

omg.

prawn wantan! this was pretty good, maybe a 3.5/5?

friend noodles!
We ordered the one with less beansprout 'cause they say it tastes better without it and it does!

wow, fantastic baby.

kankung belacan!

let the light shine on it!!!

sweet and sour chicken!

this was actually kind-of meh but whatever. the other tastes good!

oh yeah! they also have an unair-conditioned side!
wait, is unair-conditioned even a word?
